This high-level Metallurgical Engineering position is responsible for challenging technical issues related to forging, heat treating, quality assurance, product development, and process improvement efforts related to our forgings. Development of forging value propositions with our customers to address their challenges and needs is a fundamental responsibility of this position.
POSITION DESCRIPTION/PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Troubleshooting and problem solving utilizing a highly scientific approach while immersed in a high-energy environment with production (customer) demands.
Technical development and resource for Company’s metallurgical engineers.
Develop, write, and ensure effective execution of manufacturing procedures. Witness and optimize manufacturing processes. Disposition of raw-material (NDE) and mechanical/metallurgical test failure rejections.
Research and development projects for process improvement and product development.
Forging simulation software primarily for heat treatment & microstructure formation (prior experience with this software desired but not required; training will be provided as necessary).
Failure analysis and disposition of internally and externally rejected forgings, including implementation of necessary corrective actions.
Correspondence and interaction with customers. Development of forging value propositions with our customers to address their challenges and needs.
Staying current with technologies related to our current and future business needs, and educating our management team on such findings.
