ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / FUNCTIONS:
Process Development & Optimization
- Develop scrap recipes using varied feedstocks for production trials to optimize the EAF scrap melting process.
- Establish and refine the relationship between scrap mix, flux additions, and slag chemistry to achieve consistent slag quality, optimal foaming behavior, and effective dephosphorization.
- Develop flux practices that maximize desulphurization efficiency and promote effective absorption of non-metallic inclusions during the ladle refining process.
- Optimize the use of calcium‑bearing alloys to improve modification of oxide and sulfide inclusions.
Modeling & Analytical Support
- Contribute to the development and application of numerical models for steelmaking processes and collaborate with Operations to implement model-based control strategies.
- Perform inclusion analyses using optical microscopy and SEM/EDS to support refinement of ladle practices and improvement of steel cleanliness.
Raw Material Evaluation & Technical Documentation
- Conduct raw material testing to confirm vendor material compliance with required specifications.
- Prepare detailed technical reports documenting research activities, trial findings, and recommendations.
- Stay current with technical literature, industry advancements, and academic research related to primary steelmaking; communicate relevant insights for potential process optimization.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
