Process Engineer – Melt Shop Operations

Position Summary

Provide technical leadership and support for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of melt shop processes and products. Ensure safe, cost-effective operations that consistently meet customer requirements for quality, delivery, and performance. Focus on optimizing air melt shop operations, driving process improvements, and supporting cross-functional manufacturing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all quality management systems, safety standards, and operational procedures.
• Review, evaluate, and disposition heats produced in the air melt shop to ensure conformance with specifications and quality requirements.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance melt shop performance, product quality, productivity, and cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with management and cross-functional teams across all manufacturing locations to resolve technical and operational challenges.
• Perform statistical analysis of process and product data to identify trends, improve process capability, and support data-driven decision making.
• Support the investigation and disposition of nonconforming material, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
• Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and operational excellence.
• Review customer complaints and claims, conduct technical evaluations, and prepare detailed technical reports and recommendations.
• Provide technical expertise and support during customer, quality system, and regulatory audits.
• Develop and maintain process documentation, standards, and best practices related to melt shop operations.
• Support new product introductions and process qualification activities as required.
