As part of the Team, you will work in a collaborative group supporting the sale of advanced metal processing equipment and customers in the aerospace industry, with a focus on melting and refining. The Metallurgical Technology Engineer will work across disciplines and have a strategic overview of products and related processes with responsibility for technical sales and ongoing equipment/process support and development.

Primary Responsibilities:

Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers in the sales and support of equipment.

Assist customers with understanding highly engineered equipment and defining equipment specifications and technical/metallurgical requirements to meet their processing needs.

Evaluate customer requirements to determine equipment feasibility and work with internal teams to recommend the best engineered solution considering technical functionality, cost, schedule, and capability.

Define training and technology offerings to complement equipment and evaluate final acceptance criteria for equipment with a focus on metallurgical process capability and meeting industry specifications. Support of direct and franchise (sister company) sales, develop detailed proposals, negotiate technical and commercial contracts, and manage projects in coordination with internal and external teams.

Conduct process, operation, and metallurgical training and developing related documentation.

Attend industry conferences and meetings to stay abreast of advances, maintain customer relations, and present technical papers.

Position is responsible for providing order-to-cash metallurgical leadership and support related to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of processes and products that safely and cost-effectively meet or exceed customer demands for quality, consistency, and on-time performance.

Lead and manage product development initiatives and projects, ensuring timely and effective results that support cost-effective implementation of customer demands.

Develop capabilities regarding SPC, SQC, Lean, etc.

Define and report meaningful metrics related to development and production to ensure timely and efficient communication.

Oversee the Specific Product Design (SPD) process to provide direction and deliver timely and accurate results in line with customer expectations.

Review test results for compliance with product specifications/customer requirements

Determine root cause and ensure implementation of corrective actions through analysis of rejects and non-conformities in order to resolve customer-generated complaints and ensure satisfaction.

Experience:

Minimum four-year degree in Metallurgy or Material Science and Engineering

Minimum 5 years steel manufacturing with 3 years in a leadership role.

The role of Metallurgical Process Engineer is a technical support role which helps to develop processes for converting raw materials into finished goods. This will include, but is not limited to, development, testing, and implementation of new processes or improved processes. The Process Engineer will also be a technical support role for troubleshooting and continuous improvement of processes currently utilized, as well as involvement in failure analysis of products.

Job Duties:

• Provide day-to-day technical support for manufacturing of stainless and nickel-base alloys products. This includes establishing manufacturing process parameters, process controls and assisting with root cause analysis of process failures.
• Lead continuous improvement teams related to process problems and improvements. Develop continuous improvement activities to enhance the quality system, such as 5S, Kaizen, Lean 6-Sigma methods.
• Review customer and industry specifications and be able to provide product specific manufacturing processes to meet those specifications.
• Provide technical support to the Metallurgical Lab, Sales, Manufacturing and management personnel as well as to customers.
• Identify, investigate and execute cost savings opportunities in the manufacturing process and support functions of the organization.
• General supervising, assisting and overseeing the technical aspects of the daily routine.
• Lead and complete technical projects.
• Make disposition of non-conforming product.
• Monitor and analyze processes and the effectiveness of manufacturing process controls.
• Assist with the writing, reviewing and revising of procedures, work instructions and forms.
• Perform internal quality audits as needed.
• Collect and report data in all areas of responsibility as required.
• Any other duties assigned by QA supervision.
